The Mini Muddies Obstacle Challenge event is a dedicated event for High School students, which is delivered as the Grand Opener for our annual ‘Suck it Up Buttercup’ Obstacle Race.
The Mini Muddies Obstacle Challenge will be a fantastic opportunity to showcase your school, rally your Sports Houses or other groups, with a unique and challenging event to add to your Sports calendar.
This year’s theme for our ‘Suck it up Buttercup’ event is ‘Skoolies’, and we encourage your students to follow this theme… ol’ skool, that is! Students will be able to dress up, even cross dress, in any skool-themed outfit they can dream up, or co-ordinate their costumes with their House colours in a truly spectacular race to defeat the other skoolies (or opposing House Teams), and possibly win their Sports Department the Grand Prize and bragging rights for the year!
The Mini Muddies Obstacle Challenge is all about getting kids outdoors for a whole lot of health, exercise, and fitness, masked as a whole lot of fun! Suck It up Buttercup and Mini Muddies will provide 40+ challenging assault obstacles over 8km's worth of tough and spectacular terrain.
Team Spirit and collaboration, tactics and strategy, not to mention a healthy dose of friendly competition in a School V School or inter-House battle, could see your school take out this year’s Mini Muddies Obstacle Challenge!
Is your school up to the challenge?
To say that we had a ball last year in Tamworth, with the inaugural Mini Muddies challenge, would be a GROSS understatement!
Over 300 High School students (and some of their teachers) took the challenge, with visiting teams travelling to Tamworth from the North West, North Coast and Hunter Regions.
Inverell’s McIntyre High School took out the trophy and prize money in stellar time… now it’s your turn to try to take it off them!
The Mini Muddies Obstacle Mud race is all about getting kids outdoors for a whole lot of health, exercise, and fitness, masked as a whole lot of fun!
Suck It Up Buttercup and Mini Muddies will provide 40+ challenging obstacles, mud pits and action stations over 8km's worth of tough terrain. No amount of photos and descriptive text can prepare you for the 'Suck It Up Buttercup' Mini Muddies challenge – the kids will love it!
Last year, we delivered 10km and 30+ mud pits and obstacles, this year we’re going to hit you with 8km and 40+ assault style obstacles and action stations!
AND… after you think you can’t take any more, we’re going to hit you with…
The Adrenalin Rush Extreme
A brand new inflatable obstacle course just to add a unique twist. Weave your way around the colourful inflatable obstacle course, through the inflatable barriers, climbing walls, ladders and slides!

We anticipate that for every 30 students, your school will need to also have one Teacher and two parents attend to assist and supervise on the day. Your school may have its own policy in this regard.
How to enter – it’s VERY simple!
On the Day
1. Arrive by 10:00 a.m. for registration.
2. An Olympic Games style march past will be held in the main arena – so bring your House Flags and show your colours!
3. The race will commence promptly at 11:00 a.m. from the main arena.
4. The race will finish at 1:00 p.m. back at the arena.
How do You Win?
And the winner is…
There are two course categories - a 10km Full Course and 5km Short Course.
We are currently negotiating with a major sporting goods supplier, who will sponsor this event with two Gift Vouchers, one for each of the winning school teams of each
The winning team in each category will be judged on the basis that the first six (6) individuals from the same House Team cross the finish line TOGETHER, arm-in-arm. So, register your House and start planning your strategies! of the two categories – who couldn’t use some new sporting equipment?
Of course, as there are two categories, this means that your school could win both sections, and a double bonus for your sports arsenal!!
The ‘Mighty Mini Muddies’ Perpetual Trophy – 10km Course
We are planning to create a perpetual trophy for the event, and the winning school for the 10km Full Course category will have the bragging rights, gain valuable media attention for the school, and hold the trophy in their Sports Cabinet for one whole year until the running of the next year’s event.
Your school most likely already fields teams in multiple sporting disciplines, at school, local, state and even national and international levels – and we just took it to a new level – the MUDDY AWESOME LEVEL!
